For Love of Place Podcast

I miss talking to people. So I started a podcast. My intention is to connect with people I respect, who have skills I admire, and stories and experiences I want to learn from. For kicks, I have decided that I will record these conversations-mainly for myself-but also to share with whoever has an interest in listening in.

I will share information on how to access their work, whether they are musicians, painters or writers.

I grew up in Oxford, Ohio; and I love that town dearly. Part of my love for Oxford stems from knowing the gifted people that have lived, and do still live there. So, this podcast experiment begins with them.

For Love of Place Podcast Episode 2 (Audio and Video) Emily Wortman-Wunder

I was lucky enough to have a conversation with author Emily Wortman-Wunder about writing craft, America, and the intersection of humanity and the natural world. Emily’s works are fascinating studies on what it means to be human.

If you are looking for an impactful collection of short stories to read, I truly suggest her book Not a Thing to Comfort You. https://www.uipress.uiowa.edu/books/9781609386818/not-a-thing-to-comfort-youhttps://emilywortmanwunder.wordpress.com/

For Love of Place Podcast Episode 1 (Audio and Video) Jesse McWilliams

My long-time friend, Jesse McWilliams, a musician, world’s friendliest (ex)garbage man, husband and father, wrote a song called “Ghosts of the Future”. It struck a chord that resonates with me as America is a week out from the next Presidential election. We cover everything from the craft of writing, riding bikes, pursing outlets of creativity and connection during the COVID19 pandemic, friends and family, finding common ground in our society, my Facebook page Civil Words Not Civil War, and blueberries.
